Rainbow Photography

A dark, rainbow-lit portfolio that turns admirers into bookings.

Rainbow Photography website

Story Case study

Overview

Rainbow Photography is a wedding and portrait photographer in Lagos, Nigeria, shooting traditional weddings, pre-wedding stories, bridal prep, birthdays and convocations. I designed and built a wedding photographer website in Lagos that puts the photographs first and makes booking a shoot as easy as sending a WhatsApp message.

The challenge

Most of Rainbow's work lived on Instagram, where shoots get split across posts and buried within weeks. The brand needed a home where each shoot reads as a complete story, the range of services is clear at a glance, and a visitor can go from "I love this" to "is my date free?" without hunting for contact details. Prices vary by plan, so the site had to sell the experience without a fixed price list.

What I built

  • The Prism hero: seven vertical photo strips in rainbow hue order. One opens at a time, closed strips are tinted their spectrum colour, the hero auto-cycles and each strip links to its full story. On mobile it becomes stacked horizontal bands.
  • Story-led work pages: a filterable /work index and individual shoot pages with a lightbox, so every wedding or convocation is seen start to finish.
  • Services accordion covering weddings, pre-wedding, portraits and birthdays, and graduation.
  • A four-step process with a sticky photo and outlined step numbers, from "Say hello" to the private online gallery.
  • Packages without prices: three starting points (Portrait Session, Pre-wedding Story, Wedding Day), each with a quote request that opens a pre-filled WhatsApp message.
  • Vendor-credit marquee crediting the stylists, makeup artists and gele tiers named in real Instagram captions.
  • Keystatic CMS for shoots, hero photos and packages, so new work goes live without touching code.

Design & build

The site is dark-dominant, so the photographs carry the colour; the rainbow spectrum appears only where it means something, in the Prism and accents. Type pairs Cabinet Grotesk for display, General Sans for body and Gambetta for serif moments, with split-word heading reveals and a giant footer wordmark. It is built with Astro and Keystatic, with GSAP handling the motion. Story titles are sized by their longest word so headlines never break awkwardly.

What it delivers

Rainbow gets a portfolio that does the selling Instagram can't: complete stories, clear services and a booking path that ends in a conversation on WhatsApp, the channel the business already runs on. Explore how I approach multi-page websites.
