Raising Shasta

A warm, hopeful site for a community nonprofit.

Raising Shasta website

Story Case study

Overview

Raising Shasta is a community-based nonprofit in Shasta County, California, building a community where all children can grow up safe, supported and inspired. This nonprofit website design project gave the organisation a warm, hopeful home online, one that helps families find support and gives donors, volunteers and partners an easy way to get involved. I designed and built it in Framer.

The challenge

A community nonprofit speaks to very different people at once. A parent looking for help needs reassurance and a simple next step. A donor wants to understand impact. A volunteer wants to know they don't need special expertise, and partner organisations want to see how to work together. Raising Shasta needed a site that welcomed all of them without feeling cluttered, and that reflected its belief that change happens through relationships.

What I built

  • A hero built around the mission statement, with "Get Support", "Get Involved" and "Donate" actions
  • Animated impact counters that bring the organisation's reach to life
  • "There's a place for you here" pathways for families, donors, volunteers and organisations
  • A "How do we raise Shasta, together?" mini-guide: Start Local, Think Long-Term, Build Community
  • Programs, Events and Donate pages, with a Forms section for families
  • A contact form that routes each enquiry by intent, from family support and volunteering to sponsorship, partnership and programme enrolment

Design & build

The direction is warm and optimistic: a sunny yellow accent, friendly type, gentle motion and plenty of space so sensitive topics feel calm rather than clinical. Copy is plain and human, written to make someone in a hard moment feel seen. I built the multipage website in Framer, so the team can update programmes, events and stories themselves, and made sure every page works well on mobile, where many families will first find it.

What it delivers

Raising Shasta now has a site that makes it easy for anyone in the community to take a first step. Families can find support without hunting through menus, donors can see where their generosity goes, and volunteers and partners have a clear invitation to show up. The intent-based contact form means every enquiry reaches the right place, and the warm, hopeful design carries the organisation's relational approach into every page.
